Course: Furniture Design and Human Factors


Project: Wood Joint Box
Description: Students learn joinery techniques through building a box that consists of hand cut dovetails on two corners and a doweled rabbit joint on the other two corners. They also dado the four interior panels to enclose the bottom. They get experience using hand tools and power tools including the table saw, band saw, drill press, and belt sander.


Learning outcomes: Enhance the student’s abilities to understand and work directly in three-dimensional mediums. Students will demonstrate an awareness of typical fabrication and installation methods and maintenance requirements through the use of hand tools and power tools.
