Students Work
Course: 2D Design and Color Theory
Project: The Power of Simultaneous Contrast
Description: Students gain insight into the ways in which shifts in color temperature, saturation, and value can change the perception of another color. Color constancy and color relativity is investigated through making one color look like two different colors; and two similar but different colors look identical.
Learning Outcomes: Understand and apply color theory vocabulary to effectively communicate ideas in color and justify color decisions. Exhibit knowledge of color dimension, including hue, value, and saturation. Compare and contrast additive and subtractive color theories, including which theories apply to digital media versus traditional, tactile media.
Medium: Color-aid paper and Adobe Illustrator
